1) Keith Perch used to edit the Leicester Mercury. How many staff did it have at its peak and where does Perch see the paper in 10 years' time?

At the highest point of this companies time it had 130 journalists employed to write their papers, whereas this is very different today due to the increase in news online. keith predicts that in 10 years that journalism will become exclusively weekly as news gets uploaded straight away and lots of people report news independently to help people become aware of problems. 

2) How does Perch view the phone hacking scandal?

Perch believes that because this scandal of the phone hacking was mainstream, it was not dealt with properly as it lead to many journalists/companies getting away with it but a few getting caught and shut down like news of the world. He vouches that there should have been more legal action upon this situation to all the newspapers involved in this or these types of scandals.

 3) What does IPSO stand for and how does it work?

Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) and it works to help regulate the news and the Editors code of practice. 

4) What is Perch's view of newspaper ownership?


Perch believes that readers are the ones who control what content and are responsible for the content they chose to consume, he also thinks that newspapers shouldnt be biased as they possibly can be as it may favour left or right wing, this isbecause of his view on regulation. 

5) Do you agree with his view that broadcast news should have less regulation so that TV channels can support particular political parties or people?

I believe that the news should have less regulation so that audiences can become more free to chose different view points and figures to see different outlets of news

1) How does Mistry suggest advertising has changed since the mid-1990s? Ministry suggests that the advertising industry has changed due to peoples attitudes with the adverts being seen as more appealing by conveying gender and sexual orientation of the people. 2) What kinds of female stereotypes were found in advertising in the 1940s and 1950s? In the 1950's women magazines led to the claim of 'female mystique' referring to "the highest value and the only real commitment for women lies in fulfilment of their own femininity. The highest good is keeping house and raising children". OFCOM 1) How does the report suggest that TV viewing is changing?
